Bistro Anju: Food review…

When we walked in the front door, I immediately noticed a lot of diners are “our peeps” (i.e. Asians).  That is typically a good sign as most Asian cultures are “food cultures” and as a result they know where to go for good eating.

CA’ Nuong Nhu Y’: Food Review…

The interior of this Vietnamese restaurant appears to be designed as a faux Vietnam.  We’ve heard good things about this place from a friend with “Foo-dar”.  We order the following items: a small oven baked catfish, steamed fish spring rolls, pork wonton soup, seafood chow fun noodle, salt & pepper fried squid, chilled homemade Vietnamese custard flan and Thai iced tea.

Suzumaru: Food Review…

Suzumaru is our favorite Japanese restaurant in Orange County – Period.  We order the following: sautéed spinach in garlic, a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) dinner, scallop sushi, grilled mackerel and a nabeyaki udon pot, coffee jello and Japanese pudding.

Break of Dawn: Food Review…

The feeling inside is that of a Taiwanese summer – hot and greasy.  Oddly it is an overcast day and cool outside with a nice breeze.  Adding to this oddity is that their front doors are WIDE open.  I can only assume that a serious amount of heat generates from their kitchen.  In hindsight, I’ve experienced similar situations at establishments.  The staff at a salon in my neighborhood leaves the front door open on 95 degree days and flips on a $10.00 floor fan.  Just another relaxing day at the foot spa – phew!  Needless to say, I avoid the summer months there now.  But worry not, it turns out to be well worth the in-climate weather.
