Recipe: Almond Butter Banana Oat Smoothie
This is a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner as a meal replacement. The combination of oats and oat bran are helpful in lowering cholesterol and it is very filling.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 Cup of Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk (Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Almond Beverage Vanilla Unsweetened is good) OR Regular Flavor Almond Milk (has more fat and sugar)
* 1/4 Cup Almond Butter (Costco’s “Kirkland Creamy Almond Butter” is low in sugar)
* 1 scoop of whey protein powder
* 1/3 “rounded” cup of Rolled Oats (Sprout’s or a health food store)
* 1/3 “rounded” cup of Oat Bran (Sprout’s or a health food store)
* 2 TBSP of black chia seeds (Nutiva brand @ Costco)
* 1 Medium-sized Banana (Fresh or Frozen)
* 1 TBSP Honey OR 1 TBSP Canadian maple syrup (note: if you veto the banana, you will need 2.5 TBSP of honey or maple syrup) OR add 4 TBSP of unsweetened flake coconut (Trader Joe’s or Sprout’s) and modify sweetness according to taste.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until relatively smooth
Finally, add 2 ice cubes
Again, this is a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner as a meal replacement. The combination of oats and oat bran are helpful in lowering cholesterol and it is very filling.
