“Christmas Time is Here Again”: Cambria, Carmel & Monterey, CA

Its four days before Christmas and this is our first trip together to the Monterey/Carmel areas and our fourth year in a row to Cambria. Bella and I decided to mix it up this year by selecting the Cambria Pines Lodge (2905 Burton Drive, Cambria, CA 93428, 805-927-4200, cambriapineslodge.com) instead of our faithful Moonstone Landing (Moonstonelanding.com) on Moonstone Beach. The lodge is surrounded by pine trees in the hills above the East Village of Cambria. The property features romantic gardens, an organic garden for their restaurant’s kitchen and a nature trail that stretches into East Village. Continue reading

My wife Bella and I arrive at The Palazzo resort-hotel-casino (3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV, 89109, 877-883-6423, palazzolasvegas.com) in Las Vegas. As we come up the parking garage escalators I get a “mongo-sized” waft of smoke courtesy of the “Topol-hounds”. Delicious — my least favorite part about Vegas. Continue reading
