“Our Los Angeles Anniversary Excursion”

“Strike an average between what a woman thinks of her husband a month before she marries him and what she thinks of him a year afterward and you will have the truth about him.”

(H.L. Mencken, A Book of Burlesques, 1916)

Bella and I are celebrating our 3-year anniversary and have decided to return to our old stomping grounds.  We begin our trip by making our way to our new Sonic Drive-in in Lake Forest.  A breakfast burrito, a beverage and we’re on our way to L.A.

Little Italy Festa!: San Diego, CA

We board our apartment community shuttle at 9am for San Diego’s Little Italy community.  We occupy the only two remaining seats in the back.  This is one of the free trips (some require fees) that our community offers.   I immediately notice that the interior temperature reminds me of a senior citizen’s dwelling in the dead of a Chicago winter.  I glance around the bus and notice that ninety percent of the passengers are senior citizens.  As a result, I say nothing.  Although, I wonder if I’ll later be reminded later of the old adage about “ASSuming”. “Show me the Way…to La Jolla?”

We depart South Orange County for La Jolla on Saturday evening for our Memorial Day weekend getaway.  I immediately realize the advantage of leaving at 7pm as traffic is flowing smoothly.  Last year we stayed at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine.  We decided to upgrade our location by staying in La Jolla Village and downgrade our accommodations by staying at the Best Western Inn by the Sea (A: 7830 Fay Avenue, La Jolla, CA  92037-4240. P: 858-459-4461. W: lajollainnbythesea.com). Continue reading

Temecula Wine Tasting Trip

Our resort apartment community in South Orange County offers weekly trips to various southland attractions (i.e. museums, botanical gardens, art galleries etc.).  I finally decide to take advantage of an event in my wheelhouse and choose the Temecula Wine Tasting Trip. Continue reading
